Hotel Parking

Hotel Parking Lot Rate: $22 per night (Anime USA 2015 Convention—Discounted Rate)

Parking at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park hotel is available, but limited; the hotel’s parking lot has approximately 600 parking spaces. It is anticipated that the parking lot will fill up to capacity on the Friday of the convention through the end of the convention (Sunday).

In order to receive this rate, you must tie your hotel key to your parking ticket at the hotel’s front desk or get a colored parking ticket from the info desk. Otherwise, you will be charged the standard rate, which is significantly more expensive.

Neighborhood Parking Options

recommended overflow parking location is the University of the District of Colombia. The rate is approximately $20 a day, parking two metro stops to the north of the convention. Additional  information for this parking option can be found online here: http://www.udc.edu/parking.

Two other local hotels offer overnight parking. The Omni Shoreham Hotel offers valet parking at approximately $35 a day, plus tax. This hotel is located directly south of the Washington Marriott Wardman Park. Parking can be arranged by speaking to their parking staff. The Washington Hilton offers parking starting at approximately $36 a day and is located one metro stop south of the hotel, along Connecticut Ave.

While there are other garages and street parking located around the hotel, locations may not allow overnight parking, and D.C. parking laws and restrictions may result in tickets/towing. Park at such locations at your own risk.

Several of the other travel gateways to DC have significant parking available, so you can park at one of these locations and use metro.

Travel

By Metro:

This is Anime USA’s favorite way to come to the convention, and it is highly recommended. The convention takes place right next to the  Woodley Park/Adams Morgan metro stop on the red line. When you arrive at the top of the stairs, the hotel will be directly across the street on your right. Either continue up Connecticut Ave to Woodley Road, or go up the back drive located just south of the metro entrance. Anime USA strongly encourages use of the metro, as it will be the easiest and cheapest way to get to our convention. Some metro stations offer free long-term parking on weekends. Please check with the station manager to ensure you are parking legally at that station.

Union Station:

This is the point of arrival for trains and buses in Washington D.C. In addition, there are more than two thousand parking spaces available. The red line metro stop in the basement is a direct 15 minute ride from the hotel.

Reagan National Airport:

This is the primary airport for Washington D.C. with more than ten thousand parking spaces available. The airport is on the blue/yellow lines and is about half an hour from the hotel.

Local Attractions:

While we hope you find tons to do at the convention, we know it can be nice to step out and get a quick bite to eat or visit a local attraction and see a little bit of this wonderful city. Anime USA recommends the following excursions.

  • Connecticut Avenue/Adams Morgan is the neighborhood we’re located in, and it is one of the most popular locations in Washington DC for restaurants and bars.
  • The National  Zoo is one of Washington’s top tourist attractions and a very short walk from our hotel. To visit, exit the hotel, and walk north along Connecticut Avenue about ¼ of a mile. The Zoo will be located directly across the street (you can’t miss it). It is free and open every day from 6am to 8pm.
  • The Freer and Sackler Galleries are the Smithsonian Museums devoted to the arts of Asia. They are located on the National Mall and are excited to invite Anime USA members to visit them. They are located off the Smithsonian metro stop on the orange and blue line, about a 25 minute trip from the convention. They are free and open 10am to 5:30pm every day.

There are hundreds of other things to see in Washington DC. Please feel free to ask at the concierge desk of the hotel for recommendations and information. Anime USA hopes you enjoy your visit to Washington D.C.
